P0752: Shift Solenoid A Stuck On
Severity: Medium Avoid towing, steep loads, and prolonged driving until diagnosed. Stop and arrange recovery if the transmission slips, loses drive, overheats, or bangs into gear; driving through slip can cause further damage.
What does P0752 mean?
Shift solenoid A appears to remain on when it should switch off. The resulting fluid-routing error can leave the transmission in an unintended gear or cause slip and overheating.
Generic OBD-II definition: Shift Solenoid A Stuck On. Confirm applicability in your vehicle service information.
Common causes
- Mechanically stuck solenoid A
- Valve-body contamination or wear
- Wiring keeping the circuit energized
Symptoms
- Harsh, missing, or incorrect shifts
- Limp mode
- Possible slipping or transmission overheating
Diagnostic focus
Do not equate solenoid A with first gear on every transmission. The same solenoid may contribute to several gears, depending on the hydraulic design.
