P0200: Injector Circuit Malfunction
Severity: High Avoid driving if the engine stalls, leaks fuel, or runs roughly. High-pressure fuel testing belongs with a qualified technician; never loosen a fuel rail or injector pipe to check pressure.
What does P0200 mean?
The computer has detected an electrical problem in the fuel-injector circuit. It may affect a shared injector supply or one or more driver paths. This is different from proving that an injector nozzle is dirty or mechanically blocked.
Generic OBD-II definition: Injector Circuit Malfunction. Confirm applicability in your vehicle service information.
Common causes
- Open or shorted injector wiring
- Failed injector winding
- Lost shared injector power supply
- Faulty computer driver after other causes are excluded
Symptoms
- Rough running or misfire
- Stalling or no start
- Check engine light that may flash
Diagnostic focus
Injector voltage and control methods differ, especially on diesel and direct-injection engines. Do not apply battery voltage or swap high-pressure injectors as a generic test; verify the electrical fault first.
Can I keep driving with P0200?
Severity: High Avoid driving if the engine stalls, leaks fuel, or runs roughly. High-pressure fuel testing belongs with a qualified technician; never loosen a fuel rail or injector pipe to check pressure.
If the check engine light is flashing or the car runs badly, stop driving and have it checked.
Typical fixes
- Scan for cylinder-specific injector and misfire codes
- Inspect the injector fuse, supply circuit, and harness
- Have injector resistance and driver operation tested with suitable equipment
