P0152: O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
Severity: Medium With a steady light and normal running, arrange diagnosis soon. Stop for a flashing light, severe misfire, overheating, or a glowing catalyst; do not assume those symptoms are only a sensor fault.
What does P0152 mean?
The bank 2 upstream oxygen signal is higher than allowed. High voltage can represent rich exhaust on a narrowband sensor, but a signal short to power or failed sensor can falsely report that condition.
Generic OBD-II definition: O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1). Confirm applicability in your vehicle service information.
Common causes
- Bank 2 sensor signal shorted to voltage
- Failed upstream sensor
- Leaking injector or another rich-fueling cause
Symptoms
- Poor fuel economy
- Rough running or low power
- Check engine light
Diagnostic focus
A sensor reporting rich may cause the computer to remove fuel even if the engine is not actually rich. Verify the measurement before replacing injectors or altering fuel pressure.
Can I keep driving with P0152?
Severity: Medium With a steady light and normal running, arrange diagnosis soon. Stop for a flashing light, severe misfire, overheating, or a glowing catalyst; do not assume those symptoms are only a sensor fault.
If the check engine light is flashing or the car runs badly, stop driving and have it checked.
Typical fixes
- Inspect bank 2 wiring near the exhaust
- Compare oxygen data with bank 2 fuel trims
- Test fueling and the sensor circuit separately
