P0141: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
Severity: Low Usually safe to keep driving, but get it checked.
What does P0141 mean?
The heater inside the bank 1, sensor 2 (downstream) oxygen sensor isn't working correctly. As with P0135, this concerns the heater circuit, not the oxygen signal. Downstream sensors run cooler since they sit after the converter, so they depend on the heater even more to reach operating temperature.
Generic OBD-II definition: O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2). Confirm applicability in your vehicle service information.
Common causes
- Burned-out heater element in the downstream sensor
- Blown O2 heater fuse (often shared with other sensors)
- Wiring damaged under the car
- Corroded connector
Symptoms
- Check engine light
- Inspection readiness monitors may not set
Can I keep driving with P0141?
Severity: Low Usually safe to keep driving, but get it checked.
If the check engine light is flashing or the car runs badly, stop driving and have it checked.
Typical fixes
- If P0135 or P0155 is also stored, check the shared fuse and power feed first
- Measure heater resistance at the sensor
- Inspect the harness under the vehicle
- Replace the sensor if the heater reads open
