P0105: Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Malfunction
Severity: Medium Drive gently and get it diagnosed soon.
What does P0105 mean?
The computer cannot trust the MAP/BARO pressure circuit. It uses this information to estimate engine load and fueling, so a fault can imitate an engine that is running too rich or too lean.
Generic OBD-II definition: Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Malfunction. Confirm applicability in your vehicle service information.
Common causes
- Disconnected or blocked MAP vacuum hose where fitted
- Faulty MAP/BARO sensor
- Broken reference, signal, or ground wiring
Symptoms
- Rough idle
- Rich running or hesitation
- Stalling or check engine light
Diagnostic focus
A blocked vacuum passage can make a good MAP sensor report the wrong manifold conditions. Check the pressure connection as well as the electrical connector.
Can I keep driving with P0105?
Severity: Medium Drive gently and get it diagnosed soon.
If the check engine light is flashing or the car runs badly, stop driving and have it checked.
Typical fixes
- Inspect the MAP hose or pressure port
- Compare key-on engine-off pressure with local barometric pressure
- Test the sensor supply, ground, and response before replacement
